Dragon's Dogma has a cool way of handling this. They use a lantern that you can hang on your waist. It also runs on oil (with oil buckets scattered throughout the gameworld) so you have to manage the amount of time using it or run out of light when you need it the most.

Just wanted to congratulate you with the latest release, I have been having a blast with it. I like the additions to the soundtrack i.e. the drum rolls, it sets a great atmosphere. Greetings from the Netherlands!

When will we start tripping about the amount of hours in a day versus a workday? Haven't read that one yet. :D
