There were lots of insider testing going on both prior to the release of lvl 5 and while testing the new shield mechanics. Information about it is a little scattered though, and you kind of have to hang around the Beam chat to participate, but Madoc has been using the Alpha/Beta testers.

I doubt 'Quests' as such will be included in the way we know it from virtually all other RPGs. As far as i know, they are not even sure if they will include any kind of automated journal or not... You can write your own quests in the journal, i guess

Don't matter - I've already got notebook for drawing maps and writing some quests like:
1. Get axe DONE!
2. Kill some MFs DONE!
3. Burn some MFs in firetrap 1st lvl DONE!
4. Kill Sir DONE! (Send Sir into the abyss) FAILED!
5. Keep dungeon cleaning STANDBY...
