There's one thing I wanted to talk about a bit more that was the original point of this thread, and that was the thaumaturgy. As I said earlier it could make an appearance in basic form, i.e. maybe just basic displacement thaumaturgy, but it got me thinking about the demonstration of force thaumaturgy that they showed in alpha demos. Don't think we've seen that since, or at least I haven't. Wonder if that'll make an appearance sometime soon.

Furthermore, on the Sui Generis wiki they've got a few descriptions of some basic skills, including a "heart stop" skill. I wonder if they intend to implement these skills bit by bit, or as larger chunks. Seems they've been doing a bit of both with the arena content, thought mostly in larger chunks + small updates I think.

I am not going to get into a pissing contest with an internet troll that has sunk a lot more time than me in a combat RP game. Hey, Sylla I can't beat them unarmored, that's why my builds use armor. You are better at combat than me, feel better?

I was joking about "naked arena or didn't happen", but if you want to bring it farther, your problem. If you care of the game you will try to learn all aspects of it as i am trying.

And no, i dont feel better about people doing dumb affirmations.

I know you can avoid being hit, I am actually getting pretty decent at emerging unscathed. I also know it removes the circles. That doesn't remove the fact that the benefit of a build without armor skills allows you to put those points into other useful skills? Then you accuse me of being dumb? Do yourself a favor and try listening to other people's ideas without berating them, insulting them, and trying to make yourself feel better. I have learned a lot from this generally helpful community, by listening to what they have to say.

To any new player of Exanima, you will "git gud" faster than you even realize it, so give it a shot, practice and don't let people get you down, even when they make ya feel bad because you are new.

I am just trying to tell you that fighting without armour will increase your skills, but you didnt catch the message and triggered yourself. It seems that the comments from these trolls are biasing how you think/see things.

And if you are not getting it, there are diference from "i am good now at combat", "i am getting better at combat" and "i am finally getting how to combat". You picked the first which i think is wrong, probably you will understand... neither i can say "i am good at combat", because i would be lying.

Sylla, I can easily beat the practice arena unarmored, and still, I don't dare to say that "there is no merit in an enemy hitting you". I guess you could say I'm just so good I got past the point of being arrogant, who knows?

Either way, my point is that the skills are completely different. Like playing unarmored? Sure, go ahead, no one's stopping you, but to be honest, I much prefer armored combat, it allows for a more complex combat. Sure, you can take a few hits, but you can also dodge them just as fine. Or you can rush to the enemy to stop his swing.

Also, @Jennre_Bard, feel free to ignore him. Fighting armored or not has nothing to do with skill on the game, as each player learns things differently and adapt their fighting style to match such. on level 3 is imbued with a combination of light and mind thaumaturgy. It seems to light up the area around you, but only works for the person who's actually wearing the helmet, since if you drop it there's no light. So I thought that light + mind thaumaturgy might be plausible.

Well, the teleport was kind of like a shadowstep in combat. Looked like a great way to avoid getting pasted by an ogre's massive club.

Yes, he's very bad at words, and 100% transparent with his obvious superiority complex, but that's why he's so much fun! I used to think he was a troll but it's even funnier: he honestly believes he's right about all the idiocy coming out of his mouth (or forum account in this case).

One of these days, MP will come out, at which point we can all take a turn teaching him valuable combat lessons.

I wouldn't be surprised if it simply wasn't allowed in arena mode. Would make sense really, who wants to jump in a combat arena with a cheating spellcaster?

If it is allowed, I'd imagine yhere will be a point cost to your abilities, on top of having to chose skills from meditation and the other one (can't recall the name just now)
