Hearth and home

I can picture how amazing it could be to to own a keep or a castle. If we are allowed to craft it though I'd suggest something along the lines of designing a layout and then having it mostly furnished based on a selected theme for each room. So something like Room 1 is 14 x 10 and is a main living room, Room 2 connects to it and is 4 x 8 and is a hearth room and finally Room 3 is connected to both being 4 x 6 and is the entrance. The walls / floor / ceiling are detailed but you can place stuff like tables and chairs however you like. This can expand since you can get very open / large small / defend-able housing. With the addition of halls (where depending on the z difference between one side and the other it become stairs) you could make a pretty neat building, if you have the resources that is.

The biggest thing is being able to build on hills and populating larger buildings so you could theoretically build a whole city and populate it making your own one and being crowned mayor. I think I'd build it near the coast and call it Pretty Pretty Unicorn.

I can definitely imagine being able to either hire someone to build or designing and having it built (in-game). Interacting with the local builders, miners, architects, woodworkers, etc. could be more possibilities of rpg and intrigue. What if bandits attack the caravan that is bringing the supplies to your house? What if the prices increase because of the weather, time, lack of resources...so many possible scenarios to make building your hovel an adventure, not just a point and click creation.

I don't like houses in Sp games. They don't add anything to a game ... in TES you can fast travel so you can go to your home in seconds, but if there is no fast travel then i would come home once maybe twice in whole gameplay. I would like something like a camp which i could move aroud, i can have my pack mule there and few guards to make it safe.
Houses are good as a base, and it's fun! I love the idea of camp though! Setting camp especially when lost will be useful, and you can meet your followers there. It would be fun if you later visit camp and find other people (or monsters) settling there.

Showcasing to myself, love a good memory ;)

Doing more is generally better but rarely do I dislike bases/homes unless they are completely static. Decided and organic growth of the base/home, ideally different variants dependant upon choices etc., is something I value quite a bit.

Neverwinter Nights 2 did a good job of it in my opinion.
What did NN2 did exactly? Never played it.

Building a house might be too much, but owning one would be nice. Now, owning one might implicate that it is exposed and if a lone hut in the woods, may be raided. So going for a hard to reach, not easy to find cave and use it as a base to store your precious stuff may be a good idea. Question though is, will you stay where you are or travel the lands? I guess the latter and given the semi-realistic approach in SG you will not be able to carry all the junk with you and there will be no absurd leveling to carry twice as much as initially later in the game. So you will need to stay light and decide what to keep and change the rest into gold/money (to keep the value).

I believe SG is not a "hoarding game", can be eventually, but is not meant to be played like that, because you need to move around physically, but having a, preferably secured, place where you can return any time would be nice.
