I think that you should be able to join public servers, LAN servers, and private servers.
I also want to be able to add my own content for a server I'd make. Say I wanted to have a friend over. He brings his laptop, and I host a LAN party. It would still be fun to do a LAN party on the normal, vanilla world, but it would get boring after a while. However, making an underworld labyrinth with different creatures and traps around every corner for him to play in would freshen things up and keep the parties interesting.

I suppose that all depends on whether the modders' toolbox is created. They've said that they want to do this, but they can't promise anything.

Like I've said many times, any game can get boring fast, you have to challenge yourself, but many people are Lazy Gamers! So devs have to create twists and turns but make them interesting.
