Good selection, that will work a treatOk, I am now looking into parts, though i'm not sure about some things so i'll post here what i got set currently ;d
MB GIGABYTE GA-970A-DS3P
CPU AMD FX-6300 /3.5G/X6/BOX AM3+
RAM 2X4G DDR3 2400 GEIL EVO CORSA
CASE CORSAIR CARBIDE TOWER 300R CC-9011014-WW
GPU GB N760OC-4GD GTX760 4GB DDR5 or ASUS GTX760-DC2OC-2GD5
PSU PSU FORTRON RIDER 650 BRONZE
HDD 1T SG SATA 6G/7200/64 /3Y WARR
Will this work ? A bit more expensive than i wanted but will figure it out.
Intel CPU's are simply superior yes, but also more expensive... For SG (and probably lots of other games these days) you want at least 3 cores, which makes a 6 core AMD FX (which is basically the equivalent of 3 Intel cores) a better choice than a dual core Intel i3 in the same price bracket. Can't say I'd support AMD CPU actually. They may (must?) have some kind of pros (more than price) compared to Intel but when you're planning to game, they are not the way to go.
It will perform beyond fine. Will a laptop with a i7-4700MQ CPU and a GTX 765m GPU do the trick for sui generis, or am I cutting it a bit close?
It will depend on what you mean by "do the trick"? I'm sure SG will run on such a setup - BM have always said that SG can run on outdated laptops (and the specs you quote are not underpowered). However, if you want to get the best out of it and run it using high graphics settings then that's another question. Will a laptop with a i7-4700MQ CPU and a GTX 765m GPU do the trick for sui generis, or am I cutting it a bit close?
You can run both 32bit and 64bit applications on Windows 64bit.Thanks for the responses, guys. All this Sui Generis excitement has coincided with me being about to purchase a new PC/Laptop, so I'm making sure I can get the best SG experience possible. Still haven't decided on desktop vs. laptop though.
EDIT: Also what's all this about 32bit only? Does that mean if I have 64bit windows installed, I won't be able to play SG?
Don't do it!!!!! Oh wait I'm a few months late! I just had to reply to this area so I would have all the new posts in each category. I'm stoked for Sui G but not many people talking here last few days...hmmmits not like my old computer stopped working or anything but it definitely have dropped alot in performance forcing me to play most games on low/medium graphics. it also starting having problems running multiple programs, just having chrome up while playing dayz or league of legends makes the game almost unplayable. so i decided to put that computer aside and use it for servers hosting instead (minecraft, etc,..)
with the new computer i should be able to run most games on best/good graphics while recording/streaming, or at least i hope it will be able to, this will after all cost me around 2850$
these are the parts my new computer will be composed of:

theres just nothing new to talk about
What would you consider to be the best gaming laptop available now? (even though you are more of a desktop guy )@Rob explained it well. That laptop spec sounds good and it will run SG fine, not on max settings but the experience will definitely be there. The 765m is the equivalent of a desktop 650 Ti which isn't bad by any means, just bear in mind that a (very) high end desktop card like a 580/680/780 is still ~3x faster.
Personally, I'm more of a desktop guy as I prefer the bigger/better screen and extra performance you get for the money. But then I'm well fussy, don't travel a lot, and don't bother gaming when I do
If you live in the EU check this out http://www.pcspecialist.co.uk/notebooks/VortexIV-15/What would you consider to be the best gaming laptop available now? (even though you are more of a desktop guy )
Unfortunately I actually have to travel quite a lot, and I've decided that a desktop pc just isn't for me, especially since I've become quite a gaming freak. But I've always preferred desktops over laptops because you do get more for your buck.
Any help is greatly appreciated in my choice of a super-hot laptop (that hopefully doesn't burn when you play a demanding game, doesn't make awful noises and stays quiet just like all machines should )
Cool! Thank you so much! I'm so tempted to buy one right now but I'll have to look into it a bit more!If you live in the EU check this out http://www.pcspecialist.co.uk/notebooks/VortexIV-15/
Fully customizable, extremely good bang for the buck. I have this laptop myself and ordered it from the same page (although with different specs).
With these specs:
CPU: i7-4710MQ
RAM: 8gb 1600mhz kingston
GPU: AMD M290X
HDD: 500GB 7200rpm Western Digital
The price is 1109 Euros (1159 with shipping for me since I live in Sweden) which is pretty much unbeatable for the specs you get. Build quality is great and so is the cooling. Only gripe I have with it is the touch pad which is kinda meh.
You might want to upgrade the GPU to a 870M from Nvidia for about 70 euros, it probably runs cooler and has slightly better performance. I totally recommend getting an SSD too if you have the cash.
Oh and if you live in the US you can get it even cheaper from other stores there.
It has some impressive things such as the 3x RAID 0 128gb SSDs and a great CPUI've found this too:

What do y'all think?
You're awesome! Thank you!!It has some impressive things such as the 3x RAID 0 128gb SSDs and a great CPU
I'm not sure whether SLI is worth the hassle though. 2x 860M are roughly the same as an 880M in the games where SLI is supported. It looks pretty thin which is cool even though it's 17 inches.
For that kind of money you could get an absolute beast though:

2x Nvidia 880m (the most powerful gpu setup you can get from a laptop)
I would probably go for the 15 inch one with a 880m if I were you though and get some really nice SSD (or two because there's room for another, just make sure to select HDD caddy in the DVD/Blu ray section). Honestly the CPU isn't all that important, especially for gaming. I doubt you would even notice any difference between an i7-4710MQ and a i7-4940MX which is the best one. Nor is RAM. 8gb is just fine unless you do lots of video editing or use stuff like virtualbox heavily.
Oh and remember to select the "No operating system" option if you want to save ~100 euros and instead dl it from tpb and install from a usb stick. Also the nice thing about these is that you can upgrade them later on, CPU, GPU, harddrive, ram, even display.
You should check out the benchmarks for different games to see how well different gpus perform:
