Non-Human Races

The game is not set in mediaeval Europe. There are reasons for the similarity but it's not the real thing. Historical accuracy is not an aim but we have taken a lof from the period also just because of the depth and realism we can gain from using a real life example of a civilisation with that level of technological development etc.
Yes, I said that wrong. I meant what you said actually. I did not think you were trying to do a historically accurate account at all. I'd like to see the game in a shorter amount of time it would take to create that. :)

I truly am amazed with the progress of the game, but seeing humans as the only available race is truly disappointing to me. Actually, not to me only. Earlier I asked my brother if he would every play any RPG in which you could only have one form or play as a single race and he IMMEDIATELY said a rough "No. Not at all!" He always preferred using whichever race represented a human with extraordinary height and strength, usually represented in games as Nords or Giants.

Modern RPGS have at least more than one race or more than one form, which usually comes with character progression. What I mean by race is obvious, but with forms I mean some type of powerful or weak state of the character in which the physical appearance and abilities of the character are more appealing and powerful in all aspects or just deteriorating and negative for the character's progression. Even if character forms are mechanics usually used in many side-scrollers, Beat-'em'ups and hack n' slash types of games, I still see it quite necessary and misused in most games of this specific genre.

i'm still sure most will agree with me when I say that various races, even without special abilities of any kind for each one, are a good reason to gain a larger audience since then players can immerse themselves even more into the gameplay and feel closer to their character. I, for example, refuse to play most RPGS as a human since I prefer anything with animal or monstrous traits, such as: orcs, draconians, argonians, lycans, etc. I know quite well that funds are tight and that this idea is not required at all, but if I do not speak them I fear I will have false hopes.

Best luck to all the devs and this marvelous project!
Herp derp. I'm delighted to hear that Sui Generis will be breaking free of the hackneyed RPG convention of having multiple playable fantasy races. In my experience, the actual "roleplaying" potential of fantasy races is actually pretty limited, usually ending up as "Hurr durr I'm an elven archer/treehugger". It's "Mary Sue" at worst and simply archetypal at best, and there are enough interesting archetypes that exist in a single species. A world with multiple sentient species is not something we can really accurately model in a game environment since we have not actually experienced such a situation historically (Neanderthals being prehistoric I guess). To me being able to accurately model system dynamics, rather than rely on genre conventions, seems to be a big part of Sui Generis.

We actually have experienced such a situation(haha), but I aggree. There is not too much point in having many different species(non-human races) to choose from as your avatar (aside on gameplay, if potentially they have racial trats). Doesn't matter much as far as role playing and immersion goes. It completely depends on the one who is playing. An elve doesn't have to be "archer/treehugger",though. Can be anything. Human race is perfect and valid for anyone who will probably be playing this game(You know... realistically ;D).

I am not entirely dismissing Venoms preference to play certain beastlike races (especially the ones you mentioned and similar), but I am too lazy to comment on it. ;D
