that you been doing it wrong the whole time... giving a push to your blows with sprints gives so much force to your strikes that i even could throw, with a maul, the last boss from the arena to the floor like a plushie.
Maul completly obliterate enemies...

A long stick with a metal clump on the end works best for me once opponents get metal armour. Wind up, step into range, strike just before the step ends, and either step back out of range, or go in close where the opponent can't hit you effectively. Rinse and repeat. Or if it's an over-head swing, that's sometimes it for the battle. Side-stepping in the direction of your swing also works for good hits. Or if your opponent steps into your swing.

And when the last boss start making moves that it would be imposible for a player... like hiting 3 you times at outstanding speed, then repeat it, yet you rip his face anyways. So funny.

The maul (or sledgehammer, they are practically identical) has a very reliable thrust attack. while a spear or a halberd kindof waves around and misses a lot in the thrust, the maul is just really damn accurate and can kill almost anyone in 1-2 good hits. Its just better (imo) than other thrusting weapons because it doesnt flail around every time and has really respectable damage.

If you enter the practice arena expert mode you'll see a maul in the starting weapons list. It's a two-handed metal hammer.
