When someone wears full plate armor, you cannot make them bleed unless you get a lucky hit between the plates, the best place to inflict red damage on a knight would be the unprotected leg behind the cuisse (upper portion of plate leggings).
@Murf has been streaming the hireling-update recently too, but that probably doesn't answer the question. Crossing my fingers for the next update to contain more than thrusting ^^
