Questions about Sui Generis

Hello nice project you have here, looks very promising but also it leaves many questions that got no visible awnser atm.

So If you have time could you please awnser them? Thanks in advance.

Whats your plans about have shields, ranged weapons, exotic, twohanded weapons and more?

You also said there wont be any saving or loading, You mean more like you gonna have a auto save feature, when you quit play you get saved, when you die, you get saved... (meaning so you cant alt+F4 cheat yourself out from perma death?)
It would just be silly if you lost all progress cuz your hardware gets an error which makes the game crash or the power goes out or you actually have to go to work and want to shut of the game when you leave your home.

Will this game be Single or co-op?

You say you gonna have deep customisation so does this include your character? Will you be able to choice your apperance and gender?

Also you say in your video you feel "alienated" with games as they look better and better, So how exactly you plan to make ous feel like one with the character we playing instead just a mute faceless person who you couldnt care less about?
Who gonna write the story?
Is the one you play gonna be a faceless mute person or have a voice? Is it planned to be fulltime voice on all or just keyfigures. Or will you go for a more the main character+keyfigures just gonna say a few things but otherwise be silent... to let the player know he actually isnt a nod doll that lacks a voice?

Will you have companions and will they have deep conversation trees?

These is the questions that I ran across atonce after browsing the info about the game I could find.

Hi Gusmil and thanks for you questions.
Shields and two handed weapons are definitely planned and have been prototyped to some extent. Ranged is also planned with some interesting gameplay but we've yet to take any steps towards actually developing it.
Many games feature no saving and your game progress is saved frequently. This is not an issue.
We definitely want multiplayer and LAN should present no problem. Our ultimate aim is to have online multiplayer with massively multiplayer elements, but because of the physics intensive gameplay this is potentially problematic, particularly for competitive play. We're not likely to begin development of the online elements until after an initial release.
You will definitely be able to customise your character's appearance. We have a character morph system that allows choosing a physique anywhere between lithe, muscular and heavy builds. Features, skin and hair are also customisable. We are also developing a slotless inventory system that allows wearing many combinations of gear.
My point with alienation was that we want to feel that our character is our own. When a character already has detailed back story and personal traits we find it difficult to identify with them. We want to write our own story, not be placed in someone else's shoes.
Because our initial inspiration for this game came to us many years ago (long before it was possible to develop it) the story has already been thoroughly developed. It is the result of many inspired moments by various members of the team and some of us are capable writers. We would however like to hire a writer to help with the bulk of dialogue etc.
Because all characters are equally complex and dynamic in behaviour and the story is also hugely dynamic, having actor voices to cover every possible circumstance is simply not practical. A system similar to that used in Age of Conan where only the first word or sentence is spoken is however something we are considering. We already a potential body of skilled voice actors.
Hope that clears some things up!

In regards to object of the game. Are there going to be quests? Different "Factions/Clans/Species"?

With this sort of combat play that you have shown, I can see that fighting multiple enemies at once is basically not going to happen due to getting knocked down constantly. How is this going to be achieved?

I forgot to ask earlier when I was asking about the Saving, is this game suppose to be a bit hardcore or do you mean it a diffrent way as you wrote in your kickstarter qoute: Death will not be hard to come by and carries consequences, and there is no saving and loading. The game will put you in situations where trying to get out alive may be your only concern. We believe this is important to keep the game exciting. What's a game if you can't lose?
can you care to explain deeper what you actaully ment with that? Im intrigued.

We are not doing a typical quest with reward system but being hired to perform tasks will certainly be there. I will give an example of what might transpire in the game.

You are offered a valuable object to complete some task. This could be a lie, it could be a way to lure you into a trap and rob you, for example. If the reward does exist, you might decide to find out where the person offering it lives and look for it in their house rather than completing the task. You may get caught doing this, or you may even be hired by the same person to retrieve the stolen item. And so on and so forth.

The world will feature something similar to a feudal society. There are races besides humans but they are dramatically different from humans, in conventional terms more monsters than races. There are no warring factions as such but there is a major ongoing conflict.

Fighting multiple opponents will not be so uncommon and knockdowns are not quite as frequent or dangerous as you might think in most fights. When fighting something like the large ogre you might want some help, though once you have built up your character's powers you may be able to accomplish a lot alone.

As a side note our character physics are advanced but they are also very performance efficient. There will be plenty of characters.

Do you consider third-person camera? Since it`s action-rpg (combat-wise, at least) there is no point in making it isometrical, especially with such great physics and visuals.

There will be a great many unique non player characters in the world and some of them may choose to follow you. Whether they become friends or enemies or are simply indifferent is completely circumstantial, there may however be some predisposed for this role. The game is not specifically designed to have a persistent party of companions. If they perish they will not return to life, or at least not as they were. Ultimately no character (or creature) is special, all are subject to the same rules and the physical laws of the universe.

Yeah, I was curious about this as well. I fear some aspects of the game may not live up to their full potential if the camera angle used in the video will be chosen(For example: you can't see the oh so beautiful sky at all).

Also how about pc requirements. Such procedural animation (I suppose it is) takes lots of resourses to run. But as we could see in GTA 4 (it has euphoria based physics, with lots of people around) this problem can be somehow handled. So won't it need a NASA pc to run this game?
