Thoughts and Ideas General

Sorry if this gets annoying but I just thought of another monster, a scaled lizard/fish/human hybrid that dwells in the water. Swimming would probably be difficult to implement so they could simply have them walk on the ocean floor, sometimes rushing out to attack the player(or an innocent little npc). The ocean, another thing to fear ambush from.

As long as we can't vertically aim strikes it has to be humanoid.
Maybe something that can turn invisible for a few seconds.

Man, a chameleon-like creature that catches prey (you) with its sticky tongue would be awesome with this engine. o_O
Shoots out it's tongue wrapping it around your leg, then starts drawing you closer and closer, dragging you across the ground, towards it's gaping mouth...bye bye Mr. Leg.

Something that I saw on another forum that I thought I would bring here
-Pets, perhaps trainable animals and creatures, with a training skill, to bring with you and help you fight your enemies. Maybe have it so that if your pet isn't trained well enough it will sometimes attack random people without your orders, or if you are a REALLY bad trainer, it could attack you. Alternatively a mind control Thaumaturgy could be used to control animals and beasts (maybe humans too :))

I'd like to redirect you to this thread that coincidentally happened today

I wanted to make a thread that would have these suggestions and ideas in one place instead of having them spread across the forums in an unorganized manner..
Attack swings really, really needs to be put to left and right mouse button. If I want to swing from the left - I click on the left mouse button and swings fom the right is done by clicking on the right mouse button.

Magic can have its own button - like F or V.

At the very least give us manually key bindings, please.

I'm only here for game-improving.

Ideas... hm

1. NPC spoken dialogue, as for the greetings and short exclamations, perhaps take German or some such language and then heavily accent it for short spoken things.

2. Dress clothing. If NPCs are remember you and impressions to be a thing, Your character to dress well and not just be in blood-stained armour would make sense if you were to walk into someone's court or house. while not looking like some peasant with a brightly coloured shirt.

3. If dropping a character from one save into another, perhaps having it so this "age" the game takes place in is this millennia spanning time period, you could sort of create a legend, for you to be that one when you drop that awesome character into a new file. Probably isn't possible, but an idea I suppose.

4. As for different races, perhaps a have a humanoid race, but without thaturmagic(due to their suppression of it) and just being stronger physically(faster, better endurance). They would be extremely xenophobic, driving away anything that has to do with thaturmagic, or anything outside of their own establishment. However, they've researched heavily in science/technology, and have access to better weapons/armour, artillery(giant crossbows/ballista), technology and more readily available healing items.

I think 1 and 2 are being implemented 3 would be pretty cool, as for 4 I actually have a couple ideas along that line.
How does a playable homunculus sound? A being created by forbidden thaumaturgy, having a much higher affinity for thaumaturgic powers, however they would be an outcast, shunned by society for being different, the usual. A different homunculus could be created with the power of SCIENCE!!! Maybe with that blue liquid stuff running through their body, mixed with their blood, giving them regenerative powers.

If these guys are stronger - why they need a science? As halfogres and halforcs races in Arcanum (for example) they can be clever, intelligent, even high-cultural - but not scientific as others. Maybe they have some not so powerful individuals in their society?
Alchemy, thaumaturgy and science have more similarities than differences.

I suppose that doesn't make too much sense. But perhaps it's that they have better endurance, greater finesse. as for science, swap that with like technology/having machinery or something. And their distrust of magic is more cultural, and not that they're incapable. so they don't use it at all. exiled peoples from this group perhaps can be found wandering around the land sometimes and could be a away for you to get lesser healing items, trinkets like a compass(example) and if anything else gets added later like a watch, or something
